Installation

Download the desktop app from the download page and install it on your system. The app is available for Windows, macOS, and Linux.

After installation, launch the app and you will be greeted by the welcome screen.

Creating your first book

1. Create a new project

Click "New Project" on the start screen. Give your book a title and optionally choose a template (novel, non-fiction, short story).

2. Build chapter structure

In the left sidebar, you can see the chapter overview. Click "+" to add a new chapter. You can rearrange chapters via drag and drop.

Each chapter can contain multiple scenes. Scenes help you divide longer chapters into manageable sections.

3. Writing in the editor

The editor supports Markdown formatting:

- `bold` for bold text - `italic` for italic text - `# Heading` for headings - `---` for horizontal dividers

4. Using focus mode

Press `F11` or click the focus icon to activate distraction-free mode. In this mode, all menus and sidebars are hidden so you can fully concentrate on your writing.

Exporting your project

When you are ready to share your work, go to File > Export and choose the desired format:

- EPUB - For e-readers and digital publishing - PDF - For printing and preview - HTML - For web publishing - Markdown - For further processing

Setting up synchronization

To receive notes from the BuchNotizApp, go to Settings > Synchronization and enter your sync server address. For more details, see the Sync Configuration article.
